Each year as the new year festivities close, many people are determined to be a newer and better version of themselves. This year, the Kip & King Marketing team challenges you to hold those same visions of improvement for your business. You can hold many different goals for your business in the coming year, but keep in mind that any progress, no matter how small, is still progress and should be rewarded as such. Below are some tips to keep in mind when setting those goals for the new year.
First, take a look at your vision statement. Are you currently living that out? Is there something you could do to fulfill the statement even more? These are great places to start when trying to brainstorm some helpful goals. Remember that a well-thought-out goal may have a couple of steps to take within that goal. For example, we want to grow by x percent by the end of the year. To do this, we will bring on x clients each quarter. By wording your goal in such a manner, you’ll be able to track your progress throughout the year.
Along those same lines, make sure you’re setting SMART goals. SMART goals are a staple in the marketing world. These goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-sensitive. We already demonstrated specific (x amount of clients), measurable (each quarter), and time-sensitive (by the end of the year) in our earlier example. For Kip & King, bringing on new clients is a relevant goal to our business model, but it wouldn’t be relevant for a retail store. Attainable is slightly trickier. You want to dream big, but you also want to be able to accomplish those dreams.
Celebrate your milestones. As we said earlier, even the smallest amounts of progress still progress. Each individual client is a new client that we get to help grow and should be celebrated as such. When dreaming big, it can feel defeating when you feel like you’re not getting closer to your goal. But consistent progress is the best kind of progress to have.
